Gecko Climb is a modern indoor climbing gym in Darwin, Australia, developed to bring high-quality bouldering and rope climbing to the Northern Territory. Built in collaboration with ICP, the project combines climbing, training, and social connection within a purpose-built facility designed for broad community appeal.
Created as a full custom climbing wall project, Gecko Climb includes rope walls, bouldering walls, custom safety matting, and ICP volumes integrated throughout the facility. The result is a versatile space that supports first-time visitors, regular climbers, and long-term route-setting flexibility.

Climbing Walls – Designed for Boulder & Rope
When looking for an indoor climbing wall builder in the Northern Territory, Australia, Gecko Climb decided to partnered with ICP to deliver one of the most exciting new climbing facilities in Australia. Located in Darwin, this project highlights ICP’s expertise as a climbing wall builder and demonstrates our ability to create world-class spaces tailored to local communities.
Gecko Climbing worked with ICP for a full custom climbing wall design package. Our design team developed a layout that blends rope walls, bouldering walls, and social space into a cohesive facility. Each wall was manufactured at our factory, from concept sketches to final build, the project showcases the creative strength of ICP’s climbing wall manufacturer process.
Wall Design & Facility Approach
Gecko Climb was developed as a full custom climbing wall package, bringing together rope walls, bouldering walls, safety matting, and route-setting features in one cohesive build. ICP’s design approach focused on blending different climbing formats into a layout that feels intuitive, spacious, and adaptable over time.
The rope climbing area supports both lead climbing and top rope, giving the gym a strong foundation for skill progression and broad user appeal. In the bouldering zones, varied wall angles and textures create opportunities for movement diversity across different climbing styles. Custom-fitted bouldering mats and rope mats reinforce safety while helping maintain a clean visual finish throughout the facility.
To expand route-setting potential, Gecko Climb also incorporates ICP volumes designed to work with the ICP Raps system. This allows setters to extend lines across transitions and refresh the experience for climbers over time without needing to alter the core wall structure.

Rebuilding Indoor Climbing in Darwin
Following the closure of an earlier climbing facility housed in a repurposed silo, Gecko Climb re-establishes a dedicated indoor climbing space in Darwin.
