Project Zero: Working with our Environment

ICP is committed to the health and wellbeing of future generations with a passion to improve our environment with recycled and sustainable materials, cleaner production processes and savvy energy choices.

Step One: Lower Our Energy Footprint

Appliances

  • Switch off appliances when they’re not in use
  • Replace appliances with a good energy rating (more stars, more savings)

Heating and Cooling

  • Switch from conventional lighting to LED
  • Use air conditioning in the mornings rather than during the middle of the day
  • Consider using manual shades rather than electronic

Transport

  • Fuel-efficient cars still produce CO2 emissions, manufacturing still pollutes.
  • Use public transport, bike, or carpool

With the help of Offsert, we hope to plant 2823 trees across the world this year!

Step Two: Use Clean Energy

Our second goal is to replace our current energy plan with a company which provides Green Power. This means using power generated from renewable sources such as the sun, wind, water and waste power, rather than coal or gas.

From October 2021, our energy usage has been 100% carbon neutral, thanks to Energy Australia.

Australian Household CO2 Comparison

Households use roughly 14 tonnes of greenhouse gases every year, half of which is directly due to electricity generation. ICP greenhouse gas emissions currently sit at 10 tonnes of gases every year. Our CO2 emissions are lower than the Australia standard but we are aiming for zero!

Many holds suppliers still use single use plastics for shipping.

We are working to initiate change with everyone we work with.

Step Three: Get Serious and Go Positive

We started the conversation with Offsert about analysing and reducing our business carbon emissions with the goal of becoming carbon positive. Offsert liked what they found in our carbon report:

“We love climbing. Purely because, at the root of climbing is the appreciation and respect for the outdoors and the environment. Climb ICP is a fantastic example of a business who not only shows appreciation for the environment but creates a business model that seeks to improve in their quest for sustainability and environmental reform.” – Offsert.

Carbon Emissions in Australian
Manufacturing/Installation Industries 2019

Electricity accounts for 32.9% of all CO2 emissions.

In Comparison ICP electricity usage creates only 7%.
